[GCI-ICG] Resistencia proletaria a la guerra – Yugoslavia 1999

/ English / Français / Español / Italiano / Deutsch / PDF /

/ English / Français / Español / Italiano / Deutsch / PDF /

[GCI-ICG] Proletarian Resistance Against the War – Yugoslavia 1999

/ English / Français / Español / Italiano / Deutsch / PDF /

Class War’s Presentation

We present here a text from the Internationalist Communist Group’s review in French Communisme n°51, May 2001 (that we quickly translated in English), devoted to the Balkan war of 1999 (that is exactly a quarter of a century ago), or more precisely to its umpteenth chapter: Kosovo and the NATO bombardment of Yugoslavia, as well as the proletarian resistance to this war.

We focus here mainly on the proletariat’s struggle against the dictatorship of the economy in the Balkans, and the development of the war against this struggle. The text also analyzes the ideology that is striving to camouflage the real reasons for this war in the eyes of the proletariat, and highlight some elements of the proletarian reaction to it.

Today, once again, we are facing the war and all the possible attacks of the bourgeoisie against proletariat that it brings. Although war is inherent to capital, although the real function of every single war has always been to serve capital and crush the subversive class, it seems that we are closer and closer to a generalized conflict of a global scale, a new World War whose modalities are becoming tangible.

According to our more or less weak forces, all of us express our resistance to this yet another capitalist war. All of us call for proletarian mobilization against the war on both sides, regardless of in which region of the world it is being waged. We claim one and only proletarian response to capitalist war, i.e. revolutionary defeatism consciously organized and structured to bring down our own bourgeoisie and therefore the world bourgeoisie as a whole. All of us uphold the flag of proletarian internationalism, that of proletarian revolution.

But all of us also experience the isolation, the weakness of our forces, face to face to the bourgeois propaganda, face to face to the warmongers disguised in “anarchists” or “communists”, face to face to the inactivity of the proletariat or its false consciousness expressed in its “will” either to defend the “homeland”, or to praise the return to “peace” (which is nothing else than the other face of everyday capitalist war) as the previous situation of “normal” exploitation.

While talking about internationalism, this means to grasp and to develop the international dimension of the proletariat as a class. Capital and its social relations expressing themselves in different wars are a worldwide reality. Communism as a proletarian project and a process opposed to the capital is a universal movement and internationalism is a decisive element in the practice of the proletariat.

The proletariat has no homeland. It has to stand in opposition to the nationalism of its “own” bourgeoisie, against its direct exploiters and thus develop internationalist practice. We consider that our task is to participate, encourage and develop this tendency as a united community of struggle against global capital – a community on which the international and internationalist organization of the proletariat stands.

May the elements of yesterday’s struggle, developed here, be of use to present struggles (Ukraine, Gaza…) and to the preparation of future struggles: the transformation of capitalist war and peace into world social revolution!

(fr, de, cs, it)

[AW2024] KRAS-IWA: To The Internationalist Anti-War Conference In Prague (en, fr, cs, es, nl)

/ English / Français / Čeština / Español / Nederlands /

Dear comrades!

We in the KRAS-IWA, as heirs to the anarchist anti-militarist tradition of the 1915 Manifesto, welcome participants in the international conference who have gathered to speak out against capitalist war and capitalist so-called “peace” and to denounce the supposed leftists and pseudo-anarchists who take sides in the capitalist wars. We hope that this forum will be an important step in establishing practical interaction from below and across all organizational boundaries between all genuine anti-war and anti-militarist social revolutionary forces.

Unfortunately, the situation in this country and the difficulty of communication with foreign Europe do not give us the opportunity to directly participate in the conference. But in spirit we are with you. We are sending you a statement of our position on the issue of war and ask you to familiarize the conference participants with it.

International Secretariate of KRAS-IWA

[GCI-ICG] We are neither Israeli nor Palestinian… [Book]

/ English / Français / Español / Deutsch / Čeština / Italiano / PDF /

Class War’s Presentation

Here we present you the text written by Internationalist Communist Group [GCI-ICG], that was originally published in its central review Communism n. 54 in 2003, during “the Second Intifada” uprising. It is a very important contribution to the deconstruction, denunciation and dismantlement of the bourgeois myth of a national community, supposedly bridging the unbridgeable class conflict between the exploited – the proletariat and the exploiters – the bourgeoisie.

Against this myth, that in the territory of “Israel/Palestine” takes form of either “Jewish homeland” or “Palestinian national liberation”, this text imposes the perspective of proletarian militant subjectivity. It brings forward many examples of class struggle in the territories under the control of either the Fatah-led Palestinian government, and Hamas at the time of writing not yet in government, but ascending and already fulfilling their role of the Islamic social-democracy, or of the Zionist regime. Nowadays, Hamas has become the ruling faction in Gaza and the brutality and intensity of the war, in particular extermination tactics of IDF in Gaza reached the unprecedented levels, but the insistence of communists on revolutionary defeatism without compromise and against all bourgeois falsifications does not change.

Historically, the social-democratic forces, have occasionally adopted the concept of revolutionary defeatism, but applied it so inconsistently – only to wars in the past, wars on the other side of the globe or wars, where none of their bourgeois allies were involved in – that it became only an empty (and manipulative) rhetoric.

Against this, ICG stresses the invariance and the central role of the revolutionary defeatist position in the communist program, the necessity of struggle for defeat of “our own” side in any capitalist war, against the bourgeoisie in “our own” country, the necessity to fraternize with the proletarians in the “enemy” camp, all this regardless of which side of the inter-bourgeois conflict is considered “the attacker” or “the attacked”, “the oppressor” or “the oppressed”, “the colonizer” or “the colonized”.

To get this point across, ICG references a leaflet “Jewish workers, comrades” produced by the group RKD (Revolutionäre Kommunisten Deutschlands or Revolutionary Communists of Germany) and distributed in the height of the biggest capitalist slaughter of proletariat so far, on May 1st, 1943. The leaflet is also attached in the bulletin, with comments by ICG as well as brief history of RKD and other revolutionary groups at the time of “WW2”.

Last point we want to make concerns the ICG organization itself. We consider their decades long activity and their contribution to the reappropriation of the historical program of the proletarian class by the community of struggle to be particularly important and very close to our positions. It is also important to make a point, that the historical ICG does not exist anymore. As any militant organization in the history of the movement, despite all its strengths, it was not immune to the internal contradictions. Eventually, couple of years ago these contradictions led to its dissolution as an organization keeping its militant continuity. Several ex-militants (in a literal sense), forming so-called Kilombo collective, keep talking and signing their materials in ICG’s name but, in reality, have completely hijacked the programmatic content of the group in favor of vulgar, idealist and conspiracy-theory prone ideological fantasy. We have to warn our comrades of this falsification.

[GCI-ICG] Non siamo né israeliani né palestinesi, né ebrei né musulmani… Siamo il proletariato! [2003]

/ English / Français / Español / Deutsch / Čeština / Italiano / PDF /

„Sir! No Sir!“

/ English / Français / Čestína / PDF /

[AW2024] Demonstration against capitalist wars and capitalist peace (en, cs, fr, de, nl, it, es, pt)

/ English / Čeština / Français / Deutsch / Nederlands / Italiano / Español / Português /

The collective organizing the May Action Week in Prague is calling for an anti-war demonstration to take place on Friday 24 May 2024 at 5pm on Palacký Square.

War is a phenomenon that not only theoretically, but also very concretely intrudes upon everyone’s life. Under the current social order, there is no boundary separating life in war from life in peace. We are all at war. Only the ways in which the reality of war affects us differ. Some are living on the home front in bombed-out cities, others are sent to the front to serve as cannon fodder, and some others are forced to sell their labor force, which turns the wheels of the war economy. We are all also targets of war propaganda designed to induce us to engage in one form of war or another. Finally, we are also all indoctrinated with the so-called duty to sacrifice ourselves in war for the sake of the country, the nation, the people, the economy, democracy, religion…

[GCI-ICG] The West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem… the bourgeoisie is preparing another massacre against the proletarian struggle [1988]

/ English / Français / Español / Deutsch /

Source: Internationalist Communist Group (ICG), Communism n°5, October 1988, pp.52-60

The world bourgeoisie and all its mixed factions – from the PLO to Reagan, via the States of Israel, Syria, Egypt, etc. – whatever position they hold and whatever solution they propose for the conflict, all want to make a strictly “Palestinian” problem out of the riots in the Gaza Strip, the West-Bank and East Jerusalem. Their speeches on “the right, or otherwise, of the Palestinian people to self-determination” drown the sound of their tanks, beatings and bombings.

But in Gaza, the West-Bank, in the Lebanon and elsewhere, when the so-called “Palestinian refugees” (who not only come from Palestine, but also from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or even Pakistan) begin to shout cries of revolt and to rise against the appalling living conditions imposed on them, it is the struggle of a class, of a class whose proletarian condition has flared up there more than elsewhere, but which can be seen in all the concentration camps of the capitalist world, be they death camps, prisons, law courts, cattle pens so nicely referred to as “homes for immigrant workers”, shanty-towns, or even our hard-labour camps, commonly known as factories, companies,… for those who have not yet been banished to the “camps of surpluses”.

[AW2024] ANTI-WAR CONGRESS / PRAGUE / 24 to 26 May 2024 / (en, cs, fr, hu, es, bg, pt, ru, pl, it, el, de)

/ English / Čeština / Français / Magyar / Español / Български / Português / Русский / Polski / Italiano / Ελληνικά / Deutsch /

From 20 to 26 May 2024, groups and individuals from different parts of the world will meet in Prague to coordinate anti-war activities as part of the Week of Action. The series of events will also include an anti-war congress, which will take place from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May 2024. Campaigns, direct actions, projects, publications and analyses related to the issue of war will be presented at the congress. Among other things, this internationalist event will serve as an open assembly that will try to combine theoretical background with practical activities.

We consider it necessary, in the process of resistance to war, to develop an anti-capitalist practice which seeks to preserve political autonomy. In concrete terms, this means that we want to organize outside the political parties, outside the structures of the states, and against all states. We are particularly interested in the ways how we can oppose all the harsh conditions to which we have been exposed and subjected during interstate wars and capitalist peace. We are interested in ways to sabotage wars, how to deprive our enemies of resources, how to undermine the ability of states and their armies to continue wars.

Which way to go and what is to be done? How to join forces and get organized? We will look for answers based on class, not national differentiation; answers that take into account the sheer contradiction between rank-and-file soldiers and officers, between wage laborers and bosses, between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. We will look for ways to make soldiers in uniform of any state army identify themselves with the social struggle of their brothers and sisters on the other side of the front line, and not in the murderous orders of their officers. We will also look for ways to oppose false friends, all those who seek to transform the class struggle into a national or religious struggle for a new state, a new capitalist space, better adapted to their needs.

We support the internationalist community affirming the struggle against the bourgeoisie of all warring sides, against the armies of all states, against the capitalists of each country. Current manifestations of resistance, however contradictory and fragmented they are, undoubtedly contain the seeds of a social polarization that can turn wars between states into class confrontation.
What is meant is the confrontation between the defenders of the nation, the states and capitalism on the one hand, and the social class on the other, which is beginning to realize that defending the nation to which it is bound in chains only serves the interests of those who exploit it.

Direct action against wars now takes various forms, more or less targeted, more or less organized. Let’s strive for a qualitative shift whereby individual acts of resistance break out of their isolation through interconnection and coordination. The common enemy in every epoch is, first of all, capitalism, and therefore every state that structures it, the army that defends it, the bourgeoisie that embodies it. The only way out of the nightmare of capitalist wars and capitalist peace is a collective awakening: we must see and sabotage the whole machinery of war, overthrow its representatives and reclaim our power as creators of the world.

We call on groups and individuals interested in participating in the anti-war congress in Prague to contact us well in advance with proposals for the program.

Together against capitalist wars and capitalist peace!

Gazze’den Tel-Aviv’e ve Tüm Dünyaya… Savaş Yok Sınıf Savaşı Var!

Kapitalist savaşla karşı karşıya kalan devrimcilerin pozisyonu her zaman aynıdır: toplumsal devrimi savaşa karşı koymak, “kendi” burjuvazilerine ve “kendi” ulusal devletlerine karşı mücadele etmek.

| English | Italiano | Français | Español | Čeština | Deutsch | Português | Русский | Türkçe | PDF |

[GCI-ICG] We are neither Israeli nor Palestinian, neither Jewish nor Muslim… We are the proletariat! [2003]

/ English / Français / Español / Deutsch / Čeština / Italiano / PDF /

Source in French: Communisme n°54, April 2003

There is not, there has never been and there will never be capitalism without war. If we want to prevent wars, we must abolish capitalism. There is no other way to achieve a world without war.

But to bring down capitalism, it is essential that the part of the society that makes up its exploited being, and which manifests itself as the living contradiction to the economic tyranny, should constitute itself as a single revolutionary class against the bourgeoisie, as a single party structuring its strength beyond any religion, ideology or nationality.

Internationalism is the proletarian response to the efforts of capitalist rivals to unite the exploited around the national economy and make them kill each other by lining them up behind their respective flags: nations, regions, national liberation fronts, socialist countries, anti-imperialist fronts, oppressed peoples… The key to overcome the contradictions in which capitalism tries to isolate the proletariat and to divide it by States, lies in the absolute rejection of any recruitment in a national camp. The exploited all over the world have no interests in common with those who exploit them, and nothing in the inter-imperialist contradictions can halt the worsening, at whatever level, of their situation as exploited, nothing in the inter-bourgeois balance of forces can relativize their interest in fighting the capitalist class relentlessly.
