NetBSD was the first unix-like system I ever used, back in March 2000, on my 68030 A1200.
I remember clearly that I wanted a sort of unix system to make some experience on.
I first preferred Linux, but as I was told that the generic kernel had the need of an FPU unit I choosed NetBSD, that was compiled with the FPU emulator enabled.
I remember that I couldn't install it, the system seemed to present a problem with the hd. I then discovered on the net that it was a bug of the FPU emulator affecting the m68k port of NetBSD 1.4.1.
I waited only some days and, on 21st March 2000, the 1.4.2 version of NetBSD was released, correcting that bug.
I downloaded the whole system again, but this time it worked!

I had a bunch of papers printed that explained how to install the system and a Unix book borrowed from a friend, that was all I had at the time... :-)
It was easy to partition the hd with the guidelines of the instruction set and the power of the hd managing tools of the AmigaOS, the hard part was when I was installing the system, this time, instead of a crash, I could read installation message... "Now edit your fstab typing vi /etc/fstab" What???????

My unix era begun... ;-D
