NASUM

Anwers by Anders Jakobson

1)RELAPSE has just released your first full-lenght "inhale/exhale", give us any possible info about it.
Not much to say, 38 tracks in 45 minutes or something like that. It will be released as an LP some time soon by Swedish Distortion records. The LP will have a bonus 7" with four covers included aswell.

2)Your lyrics contain strong crytics against the society and talk a lot about a necessity of more freedom and indipendence for the individual. Please, explain.
We feel that, inherited by original grindcore acts like Napalm Death and Seige, grindcore should be political and not have stupid gore/porno lyrics that has nothing to say. Our lyrics consist of parts of our political views and there isn't more to say than that.

3)Can you tell us the title track's lyric meaning? Does it simply deal with polluted air or has it an hidden meaning?
No it's basically the polluted air thing. "Your breath to live" - of course you do, you can't live without breathing, but "you breath you die" - in the future you probably can't breath air without any sort of device, if the current situations concerning the environment is changed.

4)Why did you chose NASUM as bandname? Is it a swedish word? What's its meaning? Why some of your lyrics are in swedish?
The name Nasum was chosen at an early stage of the band, where we had no possible idea that we would be "big" in the following years. The meaning of the word, which is NOT Swedish - it was picked from a movie called "Flesh for Frankenstein", is really stupid and will remain a secret, but all I can say is that it is a bodypart. We sing in Swedish when it fits the song and to pay a tribute to the old Swedish bands.

5)Time ago you recorded the DISCHARGE cover "vision of war", surely they influenced NASUM a lot, isn't it? I've never understood why there are so many "dis-core" band in your country, it seems that your HC/crust/grind scene has been influenced a lot by DISCHARGE. Do you know the reason of that?
I wouldn't say that Nasum is especially inspired by Discharge. Our crust-influences comes from old Swedish bands that didn't sound like Discharge. I don't know why Sweden is so hooked up on Discharge, I have no idea.

6)Is Mieszko the same guy of GENOCIDE SS? What happened to 'em? I'm still crazy for their EP w/VIVISECTION?
It's the same Mieszko. The second Genocide SS album "We are born of hate" should be out any day now. It will sound a lot different compaired to the old stuff. Check out www.dolores.se/distortion for more info.

7)How is possible that hemp is still illegal while alcool, which is way and way more dangerous, is easily available and it's advertised a lot on TV?
In Sweden you mean? Hemp is a drug and alcohol is very regulated in Sweden. I think it's good that hemp isn't legal here and I don't think it should be anywhere.

8)Do you have new songs ready to be released? Any release planned for the near future?
Well, in a way. We recorded eight tracks in November, four for an upcoming box set of 4 split 5":s to be released by Clean Plate records this summer, and four that we sent to Relapse. The last four will be used on compilations and such. The plan is to do another album by the end of the year, for which we are writing songs at the moment.

9)What do you think about pedophilia (love for the children) and the the mass psychosis of these years about the so called "pedophiles" (word that now includes children lovers and childrens rapers)? Do you think that children sexuality should be repressed?
People that uses children in any way are fucking idiots and should be punished.

10)What about your dayly life out of NASUM? How is life in Sweden?
A lot of hours in front of the computer, a lot of hours with my girlfriend, some rehearsing with other bands, some hours in front of the TV, some reading and stuff like that. Life in Sweden is OK, I guess. I haven't lived anywhere else so I can't compair this life to any other.

11)Thanx for all, conclude as you like.
