Soni Sori To Lead Rally Against CRPF Rape & Abuse Of Adivasis
Social worker Soni Sori will lead a rally from Peddagellur of Bijapur district, where recent gang rape cases by the CRPF and police have been reported, commencing on the 25th of January 2016, to protest the past 10 years of gender violence and injustice.
This will be a footmarch through the region involving the family members of the victims, going through the villages of Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, ending approximately a month and a half later at Jandadalpur Division headquarter where there will be a massive general assembly.
The Adivasi women residing in the Bastar region, in Chattisghar, are mostly survivors of rape and abuse by policemen. They have been subject to torture and inhumane treatment on false charges. Children are no exceptions and suffer too from police repression. This therefore demands urgent action and the protest march seeks to highlight the human rights abuses perpetrated by state machinery.
