Soni Sori’s Condition Declared Stable, As Raipur Protests In Solidarity
Soni Sori, who was attacked by three men who threw acid-like substance on her face causing intense burning on February 20, was taken to Indraprastha Apollo hospital in Delhi to be treated because local doctors couldn’t identify the chemical. Her condition is said to be stable with no threat to her life. To take care of her clinical needs, a team of senior consultant specialists has been assigned, and she is expected to recover in a few weeks’ time. She is being monitored on an hourly basis.
On February 21st, she spoke to the media briefly at the airport before being taken inside. She expressed a strong fear for her life, the lives of her children, and the Adivasis under the paramilitary cordon in South Chhattisgarh.
Nearly 150 people participated a protest in Raipur against this attack on Soni Sori. Members and leaders of AAP, CPI (ML) Red Star, CMM, DMM, CMAM, CNSSS, NGM, INC, participated in this protest. Slogans were raised against the attackers of Soni Sori, the fascist attack on JNU, false case and arrest of Kannhaiyya, against the killers of Rohith, and against the fascist-Casteist-communal-anti-Adivasi government.
