HOMENAJE A ALEJANDRO FINISTERRE : INVENTOR DEL FUTBOLÍN
Este texto es un pequeño homenaje al fallecido recientemente (9-2-2007, Zamora), Alejandro Campos Ramírez, un hombre poco conocido por muchos pero con una vida llena de innumerables experiencias y que nos legó el juego que tan buenos momentos nos hace pasar, EL FUTBOLÍN.
La historia del futbolín es más cercana que lo que creemos y más emparentada con el ingenio y la poesía que la mayoría de los deportes. Su inventor se llama Alejandro Finisterre, seudónimo de Alejandro Campos Ramírez.
Alejandro Finisterre nació en Finisterre (A Coruña) en el año 1920, hijo de un zapatero en quiebra y con diez hermanos, estudió en un colegio privado de Madrid y al no poder pagarlo el director le puso a corregir los deberes de los niños de párvulos. Después trabajó como peón de albañil y en una imprenta donde conoció a León Felipe, del que fue su albacea.
Con 16 años, le ocurrió el suceso por el cuál surgió la idea del futbolín: “Por culpa de una bomba nazi, de las que lanzaron sobre Madrid. Quedé sepultado entre cascotes, con heridas graves. Me llevaron a Valencia y luego al hospital de la Colonia Puig de Montserrat. La mayoría de los que estaban allí eran mutilados de guerra. Yo había jugado al fútbol -incluso perdí un diente de una patada-, pero me había quedado cojo y envidiaba a los que podían jugar. También me gustaba el tenis de mesa. Así que pensé: “¿Por qué no crear el fútbol de mesa?” ”.
Con esta idea en la cabeza, en las navidades del 36 se puso manos a la obra. Hay que recordar que durante la Guerra Civil Española los niños apenas tenían juguetes, sólo se podían encontrar juguetes bélicos (diorama de batallas y un muñeco republicano que elevaba el puño en alto). Además se intentó cancelar el día de los Reyes Magos. Con ayuda de un amigo carpintero vasco, Francisco Javier Altuna, también refugiado, le elaboró la mesa y las figurillas, mientras que el compró las barras de metal. Su amigo y líder de la CNT y la FAI, el anarquista Joan Busquets, fue el que le animó a patentar el invento. A principios de 1937 patentó el futbolín, al igual que el primer pasahojas movido con el pie, que le hizo a Nuria, una pianista guapísima de la que se enamoró locamente.
Después, con el regreso de la guerra, Finisterre, tuvo que huir a Francia, cruzando a pie los Pirineos, llevando solamente consigo: dos obras de teatro, una lata de sardinas y la patente del futbolín. Durante el duro trayecto a pie, él contaba:”Llovió a cántaros durante 10 días y los papeles se convirtieron en argamasa.”. En 1948, viviendo en París, Alejandro se enteró de que un antiguo compañero del hospital, Magí Muntaner, del POUM, había patentando el futbolín, según cuenta su compañero. Le envió una carta comunicándoselo, pero esa carta nunca llego a sus manos. Así que Finisterre decidió ir a la empresa francesa Mareé que los fabricaba y pedir su derecho de patente. Esta le dio el suficiente dinero para viajar a Ecuador, donde fundó la revista, Ecuador 0º,0’,0”. En la presentación de esta revista, conoció al embajador de Guatemala, quién le animó y le apoyo a que fabricara futbolines allí. Esos futbolines los realizaban manos indígenas y estaban hechos de madera de caoba y con barras telescópicas. Según decía él: “¡Una maravilla!”.
Estando en Guatemala, conoció al Ché, con el que jugaba partidas de futbolín en el Centro Republicano Español. Con el golpe de estado de Castillo Armas, su gran amigo el embajador de la Republica Española en Guatemala, temiendo lo peor le mandó enviar la valija diplomática a México, pero quedo constancia de este hecho y cuando Castillo Armas tomó el poder, Alejandro fue secuestrado y metido en un avión dirección a Madrid. En el trayecto del avión, Alejandro amenazó al piloto diciéndole que si no cambiaba el rumbo hacia México, haría estrellar el avión, con lo que consiguió su objetivo de no volver a España e ir a México. Una vez allí vio que México estaba repleto de futbolines piratas y que era un juego de moda entre los chiquillos de allí. En México se encontraba exiliado de la dictadura franquista, su viejo amigo León Felipe, del que acabaría siendo su editor y albacea. Finisterre volvió a retomar el trabajo de editor, creando una empresa que publicaba los libros de los exiliados políticos que solo podían describir a España desde el recuerdo, muchos de ellos no volvieron nunca.
De vuelta a España, durante la Transición Española, se instaló en Aranda de Duero (Burgos) donde continúo escribiendo, siendo miembro además de la Real Academia Gallega. España ya estaba llena de futbolines porque una empresa valenciana se había dedicado a fabricarlos asumiendo como suya la patente del futbolín sin dar ningún crédito a su inventor Alejandro Finisterre. Después se trasladó a Zamora a gestionar la herencia de su gran amigo León Felipe como albacea testamentario. Finisterre falleció en su casa del barrio de Pinilla en Zamora con 87 años el 9 de febrero de este año 2007. Sus cenizas fueron esparcidas por el Duero y en el Atlántico en Finisterre su tierra natal.
Alejandro Finisterre y su vida es un ejemplo de cómo era la vida en esos años tan difíciles, además es una vida repleta de vivencias y anécdotas. Merece dedicarle un artículo y lo más importante fue que nos dejó ese juego que tantos buenos momentos nos hace pasar y tantas tardes nos ha acompañado entre risas y buenos amigos, EL FUTBOLÍN.
Como él dijo: este juego era “hijo de aquel conflicto, y cuyos jugadores, fundidos en un metal que había segado la vida de mas de un español, algo tenían de soldaditos de plomo que pateaban aquellas bolas compactas como balas de cañón”.
