Miles de manifestantes se tomaron las calles del centro de Londres
Este miércoles 1º de Abril, en protesta contra la reunión del G20, conocida como “truco de confianza”. La atmósfera era tensa en el distrito financiero de la ciudad, especialmente en frente del Banco de Inglaterra, el banco central británico, punto de convergencia de las cuatro grandes marchas, organizadas por los activistas anti-globalización, ecologistas y anarquistas - llamada “Los Cuatro Caballeros del Apocalipsis”, que se inició en diferentes puntos de Londres y se reunió frente al Banco de Inglaterra.
Durante la manifestación, un grupo de anarquistas atacó una sucursal del Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), destruyendo las vitrinas e invadiendo el edificio.
“Tuvimos un gran día. Fue genial! Dijimos que atacaríamos el banco y lo hicimos. No pueden detenernos. Forzamos las lineas de la policía y arremetimos contra el Royal Bank of Scotland”, dijo un anarquista.
El RBS es una de las instituciones financieras que recibieron asistencia por parte del gobierno después del colapso del sistema financiero internacional a finales de 2008.
Lxs activistas fueron reprimidxs por agentes especiales de la policía británica, que fueron enviados al lugar para contener las protestas.

El hombre fue trasladado a un hospital donde se certificó su muerte
El Servicio de Ambulancias explicó, por su parte, que a las 18.24 GMT había recibido una llamada telefónica de un ciudadano que informaba de que un hombre se había caído y estaba inconsciente, aunque aún respiraba, a las puertas del Banco de Inglaterra. Sin embargo, otra llamada cinco minutos más tarde comunicaba que la víctima había dejado de respirar.

En esta ocasión las primeras cifras que se barajan del saldo represivo son de 111 personas detenidas, numerosos heridos y un manifestante muerto.
Londres acogió el 2 de marzo una cumbre del G20 a la que se sumaron España, Holanda, República Checa y representantes del Banco Mundial, Fondo Monetario Internacional y Naciones Unidas. Su reunión: negociar una salida a la actual crisis económica.
El borrador del texto inicial que marcó las lineas fundamentales de las medidas se encuentra disponible en el Financial Times. No menciona la palabra “capitalismo” y como solución a la crisis se alude a “la fe en los principios de mercado”.
Los acuerdos tomados se basan en la inyección de dinero público para incentivar el consumo. La receta para “salvar el capitalismo” es ayudar a los países en dificultades para que así vuelvan a consumir, confiando en que ello permitirá que la economía gire de nuevo. La mayor parte de estos recursos estarán en manos del FMI, que los repartirá en forma de créditos a las naciones emergentes y en desarrollo.
